I agree with Stan... the family has made it clear that they do not want much publicity regarding their loss by not having the young man's name released... let it rest so this family can grieve, heal and move on with their lives!!!

I agree... why are you covering this. It is a horrible tragedy and the family explicitly asked to have their privacy respected. Why not STOP with the publicity....

My deepest sympathy to the family and friends of this young man.
I'm not so sure that this should be considered publicity. Perhaps it would be more constructive for our community to see it as providing us with much needed awareness of what is happening in people's private lives and that they live in quiet desperation.
I don't view this as publicity; I view it as making us aware of what we as a community need to do. This tragedy only makes me more committed to making mental health services available and accessible to everyone; especially for youth in our community.
This tragedy touches me because my family has a young teenage man who still has not gotten the medical help he needs but IT CERTAINLY IS NOT BECAUSE WE HAVEN'T TRIED.
Unfortunately, perhaps it will take this tragedy and yet another one and another one before our awareness is raised to the point that we DEMAND better mental health services, especially for children and youth in our community.

Do you not have anything else to cover. Is there not a multiplex issue maybe fundraising or get Rose to write a letter. Maybe you could do a couple stories on the weekend about it also. For all the suicides in MJ how come so much coverage on this one. THink of the family please and write some real news stories instead!

I can see what A Different Point of View is saying in the posting.
I have to say in defense of the mental health services while I lived in Saskatchewan... acutally Moose Jaw... they helped me out when needed not once, not twice but three times without ever failing me!!!
We have to remember though each case is different... people may not always be aware that something is going on with a person that is having trouble dealing with life and that is an unfortunate reality!!
There are plenty of ways to make the public aware of things we can all do to help someone in need but to keep one story going when the family explicitly asked to have their privacy respected is wrong.
