Moose Jaw -
The key to successful interior design is simple.
"It should be a reflection of your personality and personal style," said Moose Jaw's Jillian Bilawchuk, owner of Jillian's Design and Elements. Although design trends may change over time, she said personal style basically stays the same throughout an individual's life.
Bilawchuk, 25, will share her design elements expertise during the Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce's professional administrators' luncheon at Temple Gardens Mineral Spa on Thursday.
The 2007 chamber Business Excellence Awards Young Entrepreneur Award winner told the Times-Herald the luncheon will allow her the opportunity to network with her fellow local business owners, as well as inspire people to develop their design elements.
Bilawchuk said that as part of her presentation she will talk about the five critical design elements - colour, balance, repetition, scale and texture - and how to best use them.
The young businesswoman opened her downtown boutique in 2007 after earning a bachelor's degree in human ecology from the University of Alberta with a double minor in marketing and design. She also has an interior design certificate.
