Moose Jaw -
A team of stylists from Moose Jaw's Transition Salon has won the Mirror Award as the Saskatchewan Salon Team of the Year.
Bri Hill, DJ Moran and Andi Moran won the award March 28 at the 15th annual Canadian Hairdresser Magazine Mirror Awards competition at Canada's premiere show in Toronto.
The award recognizes outstanding teamwork and collection of styles and is given to the team demonstrating the strongest images of make-over design. Judging is based on balance of hair cut, colour hair texture and makeup.
The collection of images produced by the Transition team has travelled to the United States and is being used as the spring season's marketing collection called Transitions, a collection of hair for people who are always in transition.
The collection will be used on posters and educational booklets being published across North America, used to promote Los Angeles-based ProDesign International and in technical salon guides to update skills of hairdressers.
This team is preparing a fall collection of work for the Hair Care Company and working towards competing in the Allied Beauty Association competitions. Members will also participate in the Contessa Awards sponsored by Salon Magazine.
The spring hair show circuit will conclude June 14 after competitions in Chicago, Ocean City, Kansas City, Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg.
Hill is The Academies lead instructor who has had her work published with ProDesign International. She has previously won awards in various competitions across the Prairies.
DJ Moran, international artistic director for ProDesign International is a five-time finalist for Hairdresser of the Year by Salon Magazine and nominee for International Educator of the Year.
Andi Moran has status as an international makeup artist whose work has been published in magazines and featured in theatre and on television. She also teaches makeup classes at The Academies.
