A huge doll and toy fundraising auction featuring more than 1,800 items from the private collection of a Moose Jaw resident will take place at the Moose Jaw Cultural Centre from June 30 to July 2.

Dale Harvey is handling the collection through Players Collectibles and said proceeds from the auction will be shared with the cultural centre.

The preview will take place on June 30 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and admission is $5.

The auction will take place on July 1 at 9 a.m. and July 2 at 9 a.m. Admission is by purchasing a $25 paddle, which is refundable with a purchase of $25 or more. There are a limited number of paddles for sale.

"There are 1,831 items and it consists of dolls and toys. The dolls range from about 1850 to 1990 and the toys are probably 1900 to 1940 and a few newer ones," Harvey said.

"As far as interesting items, there's a beautiful wax doll and she is completely original.

"There's another very good character doll in bisque that's all original.

"There's some really interesting wind-ups. A wind-up monkey that combs his hair and a donkey connected to a cart. There's a lot of really nice vintage dolls carriages.

"There should be enough items in the listings for just about everybody."

Harvey said the auction has been advertised throughout North America but seats are limited to 400.
