On Monday, Moose Jaw's outdoor pool opened for the first time this year.
Once it closes again at the end of August, the city will get to work on $500,000 in renovations to the facility.
It's all part of a funding project approved by the federal government that will result in mechanical equipment upgrades, structural repairs and accessibility additions aimed at extending the life of the pool.
During the May 26 council meeting, council voted to submit a Recreational Infrastructure Canada program upgrade project funding request on behalf of the City of Moose Jaw to pay a portion of the $595,500 in upgrades to the Natatorium and Phyllis Dewar Pool.

People said we if we get the multiplex we would have no money for anything else. Dale has shown us differently. Half a million dollars to the outdoor poor and a new skating rink and the list goes on an on. Mac even got a new paint job this year! Dale this is your day to dance!

I am happy for the community and Dale. His hard work is starting to pay off and I have been asked many times to run for mayor and I have to say NO. Dale is the man! We were looking at one time of not even opening the outdoor pool this year and Dale made it happen and even lowered our taxes. Dale this is your day to shine!

The federal money run out? Not when Ray is there. Ray and Dale to Moose Jaw are like Tansi and Ravi are to the Winter Games.

CLIFFORD, do you have a job? OR do you just blog on here with your sarcastic, pessimistic attitude and mock the progress the City of MJ is making?

We receive $500k in federal money to upgrade our facilities...WAKE UP, that is a good thing and many people in MJ will benefit as a result.

I am very thankful that not everyone has the same brutal, sarcastic, annoying attitude that you do. You respond to every story on here, and it is always the same old crap. I guess you have nothing better to do than complain.

If you are so smart, then run for mayor yourself and make a difference .

At the end of the day, ANYONE who mocks the fact that the City of MJ received $500k in federal support to upgrade their recreational facilities and would seem to pass it off as a bad thing and slam the mayor in the mix....well, that my friend is the sign of someone with a very poor attitude that is more than likely unhappy when they look in the mirror and see their own reflection!!!!

be interesting to see what happens when all the federal and provincial grants dry up, and we are left with operating costs ridiculously beyond our means.
