Although General Motors of Canada (GM) sent letters to approximately 245 of its dealerships across the country informing them the automaker is cutting ties, Murray GM of Moose Jaw was not one of them.
Charles Vanden Broek, general manager of Murray GM, said things at his dealership are great.
Vanden Broek said there was never any danger.
"I received my letter (Wednesday) from General Motors that said we will continue to be a GM dealer for years to come.
"So, you know, this is good news, but it's not really great news because it is never nice to see another dealership close."
Vanden Broek said being that Murray is the only dealership in a city of around 35,000, there wasn't really any need for concern.
As for where the majority of the cuts were headed, Vanden Broek said that information was not disclosed and is confidential.
He is unsure of what the future holds for all the other dealerships in Saskatchewan. However, he added, in these economic times, Saskatchewan is the place to be.
"We are lucky to be in Saskatchewan. The economy is strong, the energy sector is strong, the agriculture sector is strong. So, we're good here. We don't have to worry about some of the doom and gloom the other provinces (are facing) at this time.
