There appears to be no shortage of creative and ambitious people living in this city. The latest conception is the Concert of Hope - a Pink Tie Affair. Even the name is inspired. It immediately conjures up images of women wearing pink gowns and men in suits wearing pink bow ties, walking a pink carpet into the Mae Wilson Theatre.
Shelley Hill started it all with a smaller vision. But three young people from the city grabbed the idea and turned it into a major social event for the city.
With Hill, Jared Mathieson, Emili Sagal and Chris McKee are turning the idea into a major fundraising event for Moose Jaw Union Hospital. Performers Victoria Banks, Sean Hogan and Codie Prevost will be donating their time and talent to make this a success.
The Union Hospital has been the beneficiary of many good ideas in this city from Festival of Trees to the Little Princess Ball. It's proof this city is rampant with not only good ideas, but also with people who are willing to put the time in to making the ideas work.
And those lacking this vision or the desire to dedicate so much time and effort for the cause, reap the benefits at these events. Past experience has shown such events to be well-planned and well-executed, much to the appreciation of those attending.
And we again reap the benefits with a much-improved hospital, with more updated equipment.
Union Hospital has done well from the creative spirit of this community. Later this month, close to 200 people will walk to Buffalo Pound Lake and back over a three-day period to raise money for the hospital - another inspired and creative idea from a local committee.
