Idiots with bad ideas, cameras

There are two things police in this country can be thankful for: the stupidity of criminals and the desire of the public to see justice done.
In the past couple of weeks, we saw a child behind the wheel of a vehicle as his parents - and a sibling - went on a joy ride in Quebec. Then it was three "hunters" - and we use that term very loosely - who were shooting at birds incapable of flying away as they rested on a pond in Saskatchewan.
In both cases, someone was stupid enough to video the events and post the video on the Internet for all to see. And in both cases, the public found the videos disturbing and disgusting and were more than eager to help when police began searching for the people involved.
In both cases, police have found the people they believe responsible.
The sooner people realize that actions - especially stupid ones - have responsibilities, the better. Why those involved in these two online videos thought they could post the videos and people would simply laugh them off is beyond comprehension. In the case of the child behind the wheel, every responsible parent in the world viewing it had to shudder when thinking of the possibilities. And in the case of the idiots with the guns, there's not a responsible hunter out there who was not offended by what he or she saw.
It's time to grow up.
