On Jeffery Straker's website, there's a recipe on how to recreate him musically with the help of a kitchen blender.
"If you put a little Elton John, and a little Rufus Wainwright in a blender, tossed in a dash of Freddie Mercury and Ben Folds, then hit puree, you'd get Jeffery Straker," the website reads.
Straker, a singer and pianist from Regina who performs in Moose Jaw on Saturday, feels the recipe is an accurate one for the kind of music he produces.
"Elton John was certainly an influence early on, as with the other musicians mentioned - their music is always kind of percolating in the background, if you will," said Straker.
A video for "Hypnotized," which shows Straker becoming the ringmaster of an circus that magically appears in an alleyway, is currently in the top 10 of play on MuchMoreMusic.
