That is exactly right NOT THIS AGAIN. People knock everything in this town and that is why nothing gets done. If it was not for the vision of Dale McBain none of this would be happening. He got the multiplex downtown, the River street redevelopment, and it is also him bring the tourism numbers up year after year. How many cities out there can lose 200 jobs to a plant and still see job number growth - only Moose Jaw as I see it! Hats off to Dale and the gang!

If the casino moves and takes its tour buses with it, the spa may as well remove a few hundred rooms.

    WTF?

To 'Not this again' - do you really think that the spa's only business comes from bus tours, think again. You have no idea...

I believe the original idea was that the casino would expand into what is now their parking lot and then the spa would build on top but since then the Casino has decided to expand only their lounge area. I am sure the spa has many more options to expand on.

Jim: The Spa has nothing whatsoever to do with the Casino or it building a new building. The Spa merely leases the current location to the Casino and its folks and gets propped up in the process. The Spa is a completely different entity that just so happens to be across the street and doesn't decide ANYTHING to do with the casino, its operations or location.

Cindy... pot calling the kettle black...
The fact that you came on here to complain about the lack of intelligent comments makes you no better then the rest...
Wouldnt it be more productive and to not be one of those people and come on here and say something intelligent that could either be agreed upon or argued upon. Rather then come on here and compain and insult people??

Logged on to see if there were any intelligent comments. It would seem that any action is open to derogatory comments. What would be proper ? ...to suspend all construction just to make couch potatoes not feel so guilty for sitting around all day munching and making useless commentary. Has this been normal all these years in Moose Jaw? Rather complain than get off the duff and work for a better city? Strange!!

Sorry Lyn if my comments hit a nerve. I just think it is hilarious that people get in a flap over the fact that the casino will be serving nachos and burgers. If your gambling your not looking for gourmet food. Kids are starving in Africa and we get ourselves all bent out of shape over what the casino is serving. If you don't plan on opening a business that provides jobs why criticise someone who does.? It just makes me wonder if this is the way it has always been in this little outback..

I don't know if most of you realize this, but you can build a pretty kickass full service restaurant for 2 million dollars.

Seems to me that public sector mentality permeates even the government business of fleecing dolts that don't understand probablility. Why do these people think its ok to whizz away taxpayer cash trying to keep up with the mobsters?

Any large business putting more money into expansion is good new for Moose Jaw.

Do any of you think the average Casino patron is going to demand a meal of fois gras, boiled goose and pickled figs? It's canteen food, get over yourselves.

The casino has its own parking garage. If it's full I highly doubt any of you are marathon runners, a walk would do you some good.

Come on, give it a rest already. Try putting some of that energy to good use and think of another way you can improve the city instead of trying to tear everything down.

Although this is a good idea & needed, it seems stupid to spend $2 million on the Casino when the Spa manager announced last june that if the Multiplex went downtown they would be building a new larger Casino

Glad to see the expansion, better here than in Regina. I would say the expansion is being built on the profits made on those fine visitors to our lovely city.

Cliff, first off, the River Street redevelopement that you speak of so eloquently, is currently on hold. No reasonable explanation why. Maybe forcing the downtown location didn't matter. Secondly, there were much better location choices that could have been made for the rinks ( Duplex ), that would have been more fiscally responsible to the taxpayer, and better suited to the needs of the community as a whole. Thirdly, people come to Moose Jaw to see the history, irregardless of who the mayor is, and alot of that history has disappeared in the last while. Fourth, and last, all I see , if your information is correct, on job creation , is 200 good paying union jobs with benefits , being replaced with minimum wage part time jobs, that don't put people in a position to buy homes and become taxpayers to the city of Moose Jaw. If this is progress, it's the kind that sucks, and requires some re-evaluation.

I don't understand why the casino doesn't build a new facilty where the old mutliplex is. I understand it would take people away from downtown but really the space would work well.

If I remember correctly, the spa wants the casino to move out and build a bigger casino... it justifys them making more rooms because those bus tours need a place to stay not just play.
Also if the casino moves out and allows the spa to expand its convention space and restaurant.
Theres more thought into all of this then people realize...
and if you ask me you can get a pretty F*N good hotdog at the casino!

Yo, B. Irregardless is not a word, and Cliff is a shining excample of irony; his positivity mocks the goings on here.

Nice to see all these businesses getting ready for the multiplex going downtown! When all these people flock to Moose Jaw we can take them down town and take them to a casino for Nachos and a coke. Really class!
