It might be an inconvenience, but if Mexico imposes travel visas on Canadians, similar to the ones Canada is currently imposing on Mexicans, local travel agents don't seem to think the move would reduce tourism to Mexico too much.
On July 13, Immigration Minister Jason Kenney announced Mexican travellers to Canada would require visas to travel to Canada.
Although Mexico was the sixth-largest source of tourists to Canada last year, with 266,000 visitors, it was also the largest source of refugee claims in Canada - 9,400 in 2008 (with only 11 per cent deemed legitimate).
Since Canada's new visa rules took effect, Mexico has responded by requiring travel visas for all Canadian diplomats coming to the country.
