After trying to give up the tour business following 30 years of service, Kathleen Thomson found she couldn't shake the travel bug.
Due to that revelation, Moose Jaw recently welcomed a new tour company - Let's Go Tours.
The bus tour company is owned and operated by tour veterans, Kathleen and her husband Bill Thomson.
The two decided to start up the company after noticing a need for short-distance bus tours in the city, as well as the attraction of being able to work and travel together, said Kathleen.
But she said it was a trip of her own that really got her thinking.
"While on a trip down to Branson, Mo., about a year and a half ago, I noticed this great big theatre and I asked some people what this theatre is all about. I found out it was a theatre that portrayed bible stories and I thought to myself, oh boy, this is something people might really enjoy."
She said it was after that trip that her tour director roots kicked in and she asked her husband if he would be interested in starting up a small tour company that would do three or four tours a year.
Bill said yes and since agreeing, Kathleen said she and her husband have organized two tours, one to Branson and one to Alberta and are in the midst of putting together a third tour.
Kathleen said the company's tours can range anywhere from three to 11 days.
"These tours really are for everyone."
She has also recently designated all Let's Go Tour trips as non-smoking, to ensure everyone's comfort and safety.
Kathleen told the Times-Herald the best part about the tours is the people.
She has loved meeting and getting to know the different people she has toured with throughout her career.
"In my 30 years I have made countless friends. It is a great way for people to meet. I know people and even groups who met while touring and now travel together quite often."
At this time, Thomson said the company has three tours in the works for next year. She said the cost of each trip can vary depending on the destination and duration. For more information on Let's Go Tours call Kathleen at 692-2370.

This is a good news story. Here we have someone taking a look at what is needed here by local people and diving into it. Hopefully they do well. I will add one little bit of constructive criticism though... ................She has also recently designated all Let's Go Tour trips as non-smoking, to ensure everyone's comfort and safety............... Buses are federally regulated the fines are none to nice as smoking has been illegal on buses for years. Other than that, it is good to see someone trying something here locally and hopefully tapping into a decent market.
