Moose Jaw -
Any dreams they had for Moose Jaw's former YWCA seemed to go up in smoke.
Calgary's Brett McAuley and Jessica McNaughton were helpless to do anything Thursday evening, as flames ravaged their 144 Ominica St. W. municipal heritage property in Moose Jaw.
"It was a wonderful building - it still is if it's still standing," McAuley told the Times-Herald from Calgary Thursday night, while firefighters still tackled the blaze. "This is a tragedy, but I'm happy nobody was hurt."
The couple had hoped at one time to convert the building into condominium units before, as McAuley said, market changes last year made doing so less economical.
Although in recent months they had decided to postpone their dreams of converting the near-century old former girls' boarding house into condos, McAuley said the pair still hoped for some sort of development with the property in the future.
