I hope the Times Herald prints an apology to this family for their poor taste in pictures!

My condolenses Michelle for your loss!

SH what does it matter over a few months... the age of my child is not the issue here.
And yes he understands death but that doesnt mean I want him to sit around and see pictures of bodies!

Yes tragic incidents happen every day,I see it all the time. But Lets have some respect for the individual and their family and friends. If this was one of your family members would you want this photo in the paper?
Yes it can be headlines and in the paper, you may even put the building in but keep the details out. Just like at MVA's ( car accidents) when there is a fatality how often do you see the body in the car? or even covered up in a photo? you don't. So use some common sense, and have some respect.

Funny 'H'...how did your son grow 2 years? ;-)

On a more serious note, however, this picture is extremely poor taste, and I hope the family does not have to be witness to such a site. I am sure they are in enough grief as it is, losing such a long lived family member. I hope that the rest of his family has a chance to mourn him and celebrate his life. SHAME ON YOU TIMES HERALD!!!

Yes, pictures may sell papers based on 'shock value', but last I heard, the TH chooses to do only 'positive' news stories. How is THIS considered to be positive?

Share the info, fine. Post the picture, you need to hang your heads in shame.

You people are pathetic. How many images of dead or severly injured men, women and children from Iraq or Afghanistan have you seen in the media. Are you outraged by these as well. Those people have families too. Or is your respect only reserved for local people. As for the guy with the 5 year old(since last I checked 5 1/2 was 5 not 6), maybe you should explain death to your child. Has he never seen a dead animal on the road and asked about that?

My sincere condolences to the family, this was tragic and horrific. So sad. And I also question the decision to print this photo - inappropriate I believe. A photo of a MVA fatality with a draped body? Never seen one. Hope to never see one. Don't think it was necessary to print this photo either.
Again, my sympathy to the family who are experiencing this loss and the circumstances.

Besides the picture being aweful what's even worse is when you go to purchase the paper there is another piece of paper hanging on it saying man falls to death just to sell the paper. What a disgrace I am appalled by this and if I was the family of this individual I would be very offended.

Its fine to report it but the photo is poor taste and a photo of just the building would have been sufficient...
Showing a photo with the body draped is in very poor taste as most reporters will wait until the body is removed before snapping photos!

    Amazed at the idiots

No, most reporters would go out of the way to get a shot of the body in the picture. Pictures of spot news like this win national awards, pictures of buildings don't

I saw this picture in the paper and right away thought 'oh boy, I bet the sensitive nancies are all over the website whining about how insensitive it all is. THE HORROR THE HORROR.'

Same kind of people who watch the Shopping Channel and ChurchTV 24 hours a day because real life scares them to much.

I think that the Moose Jaw Times Herald DEFINATLY owe the family an apology for the pathetic use of media! It disgusts me to think that people can add insult to injury, with something as tragic as this! My condolences go out to the family! I'm thinking of you all and hope you find comfort in family and friends!

    Actually Amazed at the idiots....

I was more concerned of the fact that I had to explain to my 6 year old son why there was a body shrouded in the news paper!
    HIS EXACT WORDS:
IS THIS A PERSON AND IS HE ALIVE?

Normally when these things are shown on TV, if they are, there is a warning to have young children turn away, you dont get this luxory when its in the news paper!

If this was your spouse or parent would you want to see that in the paper?

And do you really think that the Times Herald reporters would win awards for this report? Like SERIOUSLY???

I cannot believe the poor taste and insensitivity of the TH to post a picture like this. Have some respect for the family.

No, the same kind of people are not scared of real life...they just know the family and maybe feel some empathy for them. Of course its news and should be reported. I just think the shrouded body of an 80 year old man that fell from a balcony is in poor taste for the photo for the story. A pic of the building would have been more than enough.

My condolences go out to the family and friends of this man.

As for the TH and reporter where is your common sense and respect for the family and friends of this man? For a picture of this nature to be on the front page shows how the reporter and management of this paper have absolutely no morals

That is News folks, get over it. It is what people buy the paper for. If the incident were not reported many would complain that the Times Herald was not doing it's job. The News Media is in business to print what happens in the world and this incident happened in our world. Tragic incidents happen everyday and everywhere and are usually reported in the paper. The photo was a long shot and no details or visible clues to the identity of the man were visible anyway.

Actually CN... if you want me to be techniqual and exact to the date then he would be almost 5 1/2, easier to say 6.
    Not 4!

As a family member of the man in the picture I assure you that I felt horrified to have to see this on the front page. I subscribe to the paper and happened to pick it up. My children also saw the article and yes SH, my children understand death but did they need this picture imprinted in their brains for the rest of their lives, no they did not. I feel the same way about pictures printed of horrific accident scenes or deaths of anyone. Everyone on the planet is someone's child. Everyone deserves some dignity and respect. It was a ridiculous case of sensationalism and it was absolutely appalling let alone insensitive to have ran that picture.
