It was announced Wednesday the Prairie South School Division would be re-opening Chaplin School as a Kindergarten to Grade 12 facility for the 2010-2011 school year.

In 2007 the PSSD board had passed a motion to close the school in the summer of 2009 if it did not meet the divisions enrolment standard.

However to avoid the closure the community rallied together and requested the school become a school of opportunity and in May of 2009 the board voted to designate Chaplin School a Kindergarten to Grade 8 School of Opportunity.

This meant high school students living in the Chaplin area would have to attend school in neighbouring communities.

Last month Shawn Davidson, PSSD trustee, made a motion for the school board to once again take a look at the rural school.
