Anyone interested is welcome to attend the Irrigation Crop Diversification Corporation (ICDC) and Saskatchewan Irrigation Projects Association (SIPA) annual conference at Moose Jaw’s Heritage Inn next Monday and Tuesday.

Larry Lee, SIPA chairman, told the Times-Herald the upcoming conference will be an opportunity both public and private irrigators, as well as anyone else with an interest, to attend the Monday sessions and learn about irrigation projects provincially and what the SIPA and ICDC board of directors is doing.

One topic that might interest Moose Jaw-area residents, according to Lee, might be the updates members will receive regarding irrigation expansion on the land surrounding Lake Diefenbaker.

He said SIPA has been attempting to attain federal and provincial funding to develop an irrigation project in that area, which he said could add 500,000 acres of irrigated land in the province initially, followed by 2 million such acres if the project is further expanded overtime.
