Fire starts in basement of Moose Jaw house

Emergency services attended a fire in a house on the 900 block of Athabasca Street East on Sunday.

            The incident happened at 10:36 a.m.

            Sgt Randy Jesse, of Moose Jaw Police Service, said the fire was started after a dryer ignited a wooden shelving unit.

            He said police were on scene to control traffic.

            Commander Rob Donley, of Moose Jaw Fire Department, said crews were on scene until 11:35 a.m.

            He said the fire started in the basement and “caused some damage”.

            Nobody was injured.
