Three people involved in the third accident on the Trans-Canada Highway this week are lucky the collision was not more serious, according to Moose Jaw Fire Department commander Dave Hill.

He said the incident, which took place at the intersection with Ninth Avenue Northwest on Friday at about 10:30 a.m., was a “bad accident”.

One man, believed to be about 40, was taken to Moose Jaw’s Union Hospital with non-life threatening injuries while the two occupants of the other vehicle were released without injuries.

One vehicle was travelling southbound and was in collision with an eastbound vehicle.

“There were two vehicles and the injuries were surprisingly minor for the damage,” Hill said. “They were very lucky.”

Traffic lights if properly set up with advance left turn and then red on the left turns, will certainly minimize the potential for accients. We moved here from a city with a population in excess of 600,000 people and this is what they do. Also, along the Transcanada highway in many provinces there are traffic lights, so don't fall for the comment from the 'educated' politician who said lights will increase rear-end collisions. Really? Hard to believe he said it but he did. Time for the Sask people and gov't to get 'er done!

Looks like having lights at this intersection would have been a better decision rather than the money spent on the east approach. Whose decision was this?

Is it possible that having a set of lights at the intersection like most cities would have been a better choice than the money spent on the east approach?

The crossing at 9th avenue NW should be closed to traffic crossing the highway. People wishing to get to business on the North Service Rd. from 9th avenue should turn east on the highway and use the cloverleaf at Main st to safely cross the highway. People returning from the North Service Rd can go west on the existing entrance to the westbound highway. They can cross the highway and go any other direction once they are on the bridge. It would cost very little to put up some signs and dump a pile of dirt in the existing crossing to stop people from using it. After awhile people would get used to the short detour and people would not be getting killed at the crossing. It's worth a little inconvenience to save a life.

People need to start using common sense when crossing highways...why is everyone in such a hurry that they cannot wait until there are no vehicles coming! When you are not moving and they are traveling 100-120km/hr, you don't have as much time as crossing in intersection in the city!

Well, This is the most poorly designed intersection in Moose Jaw. I have personally seen 2 tractor trailers make bonehead moves at the same time. One heading east turning onto the north service road while the second waiting at the north service road stop sign, heading west, turned left to proceed through the intersection south, or so I thought, then he made an immediate right onto the TCH. Both almost hit each other, and did I mention there was a car in the meridian waiting to cross from north to south as this happened. Block the intersection. There is north service road acess from main,
