“It’s the last camping trip of the summer.”
That’s how the Olson family of Moose Jaw view the Labour Day long weekend.
Aaron Olson and his wife Leigh-Anne, together with children Rainer, seven, Piper, six, Cadey, four and Jack, two, enjoyed a weekend stay at Buffalo Pound Provincial park before summer services start reducing later this month.
“We have been here at least four or five times this summer,” Aaron Olson said. “We’ve spent weekends here and a full week.
“It’s a beautiful campground. It’s close. There’s a nice beach. It’s just to get away.
“We just got a trailer this year so we are doing it more. It’s easier with the trailer.”
He said he is pleased to see improvements at Buffalo Pound this year with new campsites and a better road.
Leigh-Anne was also impressed by the interpretative programs for children this summer.
“They had really good programs for the kids. They did lots of crafts. They caught things in the water and there was face painting.
“It’s just nice to get away from home and do something different for a change. We will definitely be coming back here next year.”
