Choo-choo choose to take a train ride Labour Day weekend and support a local museum in the process.
The final runs of the Western Development Museum (WDM) Short Line 101 for 2011 will be on Sept. 4-5 and Moose Javians are invited to come out and ride the train for a last time, before it’s seasonally shutdown until next year.
“For those who have never been around it, it’s a chance to see what old railroading is like,” senior engineer Paul Johnson told the Times-Herald. “We’re recreating a little spot of history.”
During those final two days of operation, trips begin at noon and continue every 20 minutes with the last trip leaving the station at 3:40 p.m. (weather permitting). Tickets ($2 each) are available at the museum, proceeds going towards train and track maintenance, as well as repaying the loan required to replace the boiler.
