“It’s not really like deciding to do a tour, its more like whether or not I want to hang out with my friends,” said the first male figure skater to land a quadruple jump in competition about participating in the Holiday Festival on Ice.

Kurt Browning, along with Jeffery Buttle, Jamie Sale, David Pelletier, Joannie Rochette and Kimmie Meissner will be making his way to Mosaic Place Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. to put on an amazing skating show.

Browning said being that this is the first figure skating show to hit the Mosaic ice, it makes it a pretty special performance.

“This is always special, the skaters get pretty excited. I have done it quite a few times but when you are the first figure skating show in a place it feels pretty good.”

As well he said being that it is the holidays, it only seems fitting that there be a figure skating show in town.

“It is sort of a tradition that skaters skate around Christmas and I think that all skaters who do this for a living consider (Christmas) our time to shine. The right time to figure skate is around the holidays.”

Browning said this festival in particular has been a part of his life for more than a decade and having the opportunity to share the ice with the caliber of skaters scheduled to perform in Moose Jaw is beyond amazing.

“This is a stacked cast that will be hard to replace in the future.”

Which he said is why he would encourage all Moose Javians to make there way out to the show next Friday night.

I would not miss this for anything. And to think that I only have to travel 2 kms to get there. Our relatives are coming down from Lanigan to join us. What a treat!
