Two stores in Moose Jaw’s Town ‘N’ Country Mall were raided Thursday by police searching for counterfeit goods.
Members from the Regina Border Integrity Unit were in the city for seizure of goods from Leather Plus and a kiosk called Only 4U.
Const. Fabian Folk, who took part in the raids, said both stores were selling items not authorized to be sold in Canada.
He said one counterfeit item and 31 electrical charging devices were seized from the kiosk. He said the chargers had never had third party testing.
From Leather Plus, a large number of different Intellectual Property Rights Holder items were seized, including John Deere, Ford, Kiss, the Beatles, Betty Boop and other rock stars.
“There were close to 20 different Intellectual Property Rights Holders being counterfeited,” he said.
Also seized from Leather Plus were more than 40 prohibited knives, a large assortment of counterfeit sweaters, t-shirts, hats and 37 pieces of art along with various other items.
Folk told the Times-Herald the unit is now working with the operators of both stores to educate as well as investigate the distribution chain.
