So far, no men have signed up to compete for the title of ‘Mister Moose Jaw,’ but Moose Jaw Relay for Life organizing committee chairwoman Doris Dunphy said there is still time and several local gents have definitely expressed interest in the upcoming Canadian Cancer Society fundraising event.

“If you want to do something fun and support Relay for Life and perhaps become the first Mister Moose Jaw, feel free to contact me even if you just have questions,” Dunphy told the Times-Herald on Thursday.

For all those men over age 19 and without a criminal record, Dunphy said there really is no reason not to sign up for the March 24 evening show at Mae Wilson Theatre. She said ‘Mister Moose Jaw’ is not a pageant merely for the conventionally physically beautiful, but for men of all sorts.

“This is supposed to be a fun event,” she said. “You may have a great sense of humour or you might have a great talent for performing."

This has got to be one of the most ridiculous events that has ever been planned in Moose Jaw. There are 100's of other events that could take place that are family oriented, non-exploitative, open to even those with criminal records (DUI at age 20 and now age 45, couldn't compete?), and events that would look at men with a positive image without a swim suit competition...? C'mon Doris Dumphy what the heck are you thinking or were you?
