Simple Plan is coming to Mosaic Place in Moose Jaw on August 11.
Unlike many pop-punk bands that rose to prominence in the early 2000s, Simple Plan has stayed popular, stayed creative and stayed together. Fortunately for the quintet’s fans in Moose Jaw, the group from Montreal will be playing Mosaic Place on August 11.
The 2012 Canadian tour is in support of Simple Plan’s gold-certified album Get Your Heart On! The record, released in June 2011, was the band’s fourth studio album and is already gold-certified.
From that album, the single “Jet lag” was platinum-certified. The English version of the track featured the duet with Natasha Bedingfield and the French version had Marie-Mai.
This year marks the 10-year anniversary of Simple Plan’s debut album, No Pads, No Helmets … Just Balls. That record launched four immensely popular singles that catapulted the group to the top of the melodic punk genre.
The group hasn’t lost any momentum since.
Simple Plan has over 5.5 million Facebook fans and 250,000 Twitter followers. The band has been voted Favourite Canadian Band five times by viewers of the MuchMusic Video Awards.
Pierre Bouvier, Chuck Comeau, David Desrosiers, Sebastien Lefebvre and Jeff Stinco have embraced their success but continue to help those in need. For more than five years the Simple Plan Foundation has been in place. In wake of the massive earthquake that hit Japan, Simple Plan dedicated raising $10,000 from T-shirt sales to donate as relief funds.
For this tour, the band is planning to donate one dollar from every ticket sold to the Simple Plan Foundation. The aim is to help young people in need, by easing their often difficult passage to adulthood and by supporting the victims of life-threatening illnesses. The foundation also believes that the practice of music can be a privileged tool to help the find a passion in life, keeping them away from street gangs and criminality, and preventing school drop outs.
Tickets for the general public will be on sale on March 2 at 11 a.m.
Pre-sale for Moose Jaw Warriors season-ticket holders opened on Monday and closes on Thursday at midnight.
