Just over a year ago, SIAST business marketing student Meagan MacLean began a 12-month work term at the Saskatoon branch of accounting and business consulting firm MNP.
Now she’s a month away from graduating, with a full-time job lined up at MNP, and can’t say enough good things about the school’s co-op placement program.
“I am really passionate about it,” MacLean said Tuesday, crediting the program with helping her find permanent employment. “I do think it’s amazing, I do think it’s incredible.”
MacLean was recently named SIAST’s Co-op Student of the Year, as part of the school’s efforts to mark National Co-operative Education Week, which runs from March 19 to 23.
SIAST students take on between 500 and 600 co-op placements annually. Of those, more than 90 per cent are situated in Saskatchewan, but other students have had the opportunity to work in Victoria, Yellowknife, Iqaluit, Ottawa and Halifax.
