On Monday, April 2, there will be a free open-house session at Moose Jaw’s South Saskatchewan Independent Living Centre (SSILC) office to assist people with completing their Saskatchewan Assured Income for Disability (SAID) packages.

The open-house runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the local SSILC office located at 637-B Main St. N. office.

All persons who have received a SAID application package are welcome to attend the session. There will be a limited number of extra packages available at the SSILC office.

Further, SSILC is seeking volunteers to assist with filling out the SAID packages.

Designed in collaboration with members of the disability community, SAID provides income for persons with significant, long-term disabilities separate from the Saskatchewan Assistance Program (SAP).

Starting in June, SAID will be expanded to include those living independently and those currently receiving SAP benefits are welcome to attend Monday’s open-house and apply for SAID. Completed applications will be reviewed to determine whether the application is eligible for the program.

For more information, contact local SSILC manager Megan Evers at 692-7452.
