Attempted murder charge

• 22-year-old Daniel James Smith will be appearing in Provincial Court today at 1:30 pm, charged with attempted murder, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to remain at the scene and possession of a prohibited weapon.

The victim has been released from hospital, with injuries to a dog being undetermined at this time.

At approximately 6:00 a.m. Moose Jaw Police and EMS attended to the intersection of Fifth Avenue Northwest at Hall Street West for a report of a vehicle/pedestrian accident. A male was transported to the Moose Jaw Union Hospital with undetermined injuries and his dog was taken to the vet also with undetermined injuries.

The adult male driver fled the scene of the accident and was apprehended a short time later by police and is currently in custody.
