The parking lot at Moose Jaw Co-op Market Place was filled with music, games and the laughter of children during the annual Co-op Kids Carnival on Sunday.

“I guess (Co-op holds the carnival) because we’re community owned, and we’re part of the community,” local Co-op general manager Gerry Onyskevitch told the Times-Herald during the event, which included an assortment of family-friendly activities.

Event co-organizer and Co-op human resources credit supervisor Calli Heinbigner said when parents join the Co-op, their children age 12 and under become park of Co-op Kids Club. As such, the local co-operative organization has events, contests and prizes for those children throughout the year.
