Matt Jacobs wants to help in offering new parents as much information towards early childhood education as possible, and help make sure children with cognitive and behavioural problems don't fall through the cracks.

A new candidate has come forward to join the Prairie South School Board trustee election.

32-year-old, father of one Matt Jacobs works for Golden West Radio and is working towards a bachelor degree in social work at the University of Regina.

Jacobs said, running as a school board candidate has been something he’s considered for some time and is ready to make the commitment.

“I used to work as an education assistant and what I learned working in the system gave great insight,” Jacobs said.

He wants to be able to offer new parents easy access to information regarding early childhood education and wants to help in creating continuing programs for special education for those with cognitive, behavioural and developmental needs.

Jacobs said, “Now that I am a father... and have worked in a group home setting in social care,” he’s ready for the high work load and think he can bring a new perspective, while still working with veteran board members.
