Kara Tremel plays Mary Delgado in Jersey Boys.
Originally from Moose Jaw, Kara Tremel is back in the province performing in the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning musical Jersey Boys, the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Tremel has been performing in the musical for almost six years, and it has now brought her back to Saskatchewan. The show will be running until Oct. 13 at the Sid Buckwold Theatre at TCU Place in Saskatoon, presented by Dancap Productions Inc.
Directed by Des McAnuff, the musical is based on the story behind the band’s journey to stardom as American pop music sensations.
Tremel plays Mary Delgado, who was Frankie Valli’s first wife, along with a host of smaller characters. There are only three women in the show—though between them they play 54 different characters.
“It’s like the Sopranos meets VH1 Behind the Music—it’s a great show for men and women,” Tremel explained about the show. She said the musical showcases the band’s hits while sharing the stories behind the music and what they went through to become successful.
