A 47-year-old man from Craik RCMP was transported to a Regina hospital by STARS ambulance with suffering serious injuries from a collision.

At 2:30 p.m. on Friday, the RCMP Divisional Operational Communications Centre (DOCC) received complaints of a southbound vehicle driving erratically at high speeds through Chamberlain.

Shortly after, the DOCC received a report of a vehicle with a similar description striking a marked police vehicle as it was parked on the side of the road in the northbound lane. At the time of the collision, the Craik officer was sitting inside a marked 2010 Chevy Tahoe with emergency equipment activated investigating a single-vehicle rollover.

The southbound vehicle was determined to be travelling in the northbound lane when it hit the police vehicle head-on. The driver of the southbound vehicle, a 35-year-old man from Saskatoon, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been notified and his name is not being released. The name of the injured Craik RCMP member is also not being released.
