(Left to right) Zombies Bev Ryan, Serena Peterson, Lisa Annesley and Genelle Payant were among the many members of the undead who participated in the zombie walk on Sunday beginning at the Moose Jaw Library.
Despite what it looked like, it was not a zombie invasion.
From brains sticking out to detached limbs, it was a gory and bloody sight outside the Moose Jaw Public Library on Sunday. Zombies of all walks of the undead came out to participate in Moose Jaw’s first annual Zombie walk with non-perishable food donations for the Moose Jaw Food Bank.
“It’s good fun. You kind of get into it,” said zombie Serena Peterson. “It’s for a good cause so it’s fun and it draws attention to the cause.”
“We got together to do our costumes. It was fun just to do that,” added Genelle Payant.
Zombie quartet Payant, Peterson, Bev Ryan and Lisa Annesley used ketchup, dirt, sticks, scissors, knives, makeup and twigs for the hair. They said it took them an hour on Saturday and another hour on Sunday to get their costumes ready.
Fellow zombie Jill Andrews came with her daughter and her grandson. She said her daughter helped her with her makeup and costume.
“I just think it’s a really good cause and to have some fun and give to the food bank,” said Andrews, adding that it took a bit of time to convince her young grandson the zombie walk was just for fun. “It’s just fun to see everybody out for a good cause.”
Organizer Holly Taylor was pleased with the turnout and said there were “quite a few boxes full” of donations for the food bank.
