Moose Jaw Humane Society needs votes to receive the Aviva Community Fund grant for new cat cages.
The Aviva Community Grant Fund online contest is well under way, and the Moose Jaw Humane Society (MJHS) needs the community’s help. It’s looking to place in the under $50,000 category for upgrades.
Aviva offers great-for-the-communty projects, events and programs grant money from the Aviva Community Fund, with the insurer offering grants totaling $1 million to the most popular bids nationally.
“One of our new volunteers came up with the idea to get involved,” Karla Pratt of MJHS told the Times-Herald. “We’re looking for $10,000 for 20 new cages for cats.”
Pratt said, on average MJHS will shelter 650 cats a year and new equipment will provide more space for the felines in need.
“The wooden ones we have now aren’t conducive to cleaning, the chemicals and water don’t help with its maintenance so an upgrade would really benefit the animals,” Pratt said.”
The deadline for the public to have their votes in is literally ticking away on Aviva’s website. The first round for voting ends on Oct. 15.
The top ten with the most votes automatically move on, all the other competitors can remain in the competition, with the top ten in each category of the round also getting entered into the semi-finals.
According Aviva’s site, “to win a share of the fund, your idea needs to: Meet the eligibility requirements for the competition.
Receive enough votes in an initial open submission round to be one of the 90 ideas that qualify for the semi-finals.
Receive enough votes in the Semi-Finals to be one of the 30 ideas that qualify for the final judging round. All ideas qualifying for the judging phase will receive a minimum of $5,000.
Receive top marks from judging to take home an Aviva Community Fund Grand Prize and have your idea completely funded.”
“We encourage everyone to vote, you can vote with every email account you have,” Pratt said. “Please vote everyday in this first round of competition, you only have one vote per day for a total of fifteen votes.”
MJHS must be in the top ten ideas of its category (under $50,000) to move into the semi-finals.The link to vote for them is:
