Having your house staged might seem like an unnecssary expense, but Jarvos says that it's worth it to get top dollar when you sell. Submitted photo
Judy Jarvos has never had a house on the market for more than two months, but she’s not a real estate agent.
Jarvos is the founder of iDew Staging & Home Design. Drawing on her experience working in the flooring industry and as an interior decorator, Jarvos now works with homeowners and real estate agents to help maximize the return they get when selling a house.
With her eye for aesthetics and by looking at the big picture, Jarvos says she helps emotionally connect buyers to a property. “I look at the neighborhood, the size of the home, the amenities and I decide whether this would be a good house for kids, or whether this would be a good house for a couple with no children, or an older couple, and I stage it to capture that market.”
Jarvos says that the concept of staging your home for sale might be somewhat new and that it can be a challenge to convince homeowners to spend money on having it staged. “If you list your house and it’s on the market for three months and you drop the price 10%, that’s way more than it would have cost to have it staged and get top dollar for it.”
Staging homes for sale isn’t the only service Jarvos offers however. She also offers interior decorating for people who aren’t trying to sell their homes as well as help with organization and de-cluttering. Jarvos also helps with what she calls closet detox, “as a woman, we all have cloths that have been hanging there for many years that we’re never going to wear.”
