The Moose Jaw Humane Society’s third annual telethon fundraiser is just days away.

The Best Things In Life Are Rescued fundraiser event is set to take place this Saturday at 5 P.M. being broadcast live from the Mae Wilson Theater.

There will be live musical performances by local bands Lords Kitchener and Desperate For Haggis. Those who tune in to channel ten on Shaw TV that night will also be treated to prerecorded performances by Saskatchewan’s own Rory Allen.

Though the event takes place Nov. 10, people have been able to make donations as of Oct. 1 at the humane society’s local partner Pet Value.

“Money has been coming in,” says Fundraising and Promotions Coordinator Karla Pratt, “which is great; and of course we encourage those who have already made their pledges to watch the telethon and see the stories that will feature the animals that will benefit from those donations.”

Pratt says she will also be doing a live radio show at the Mae Wilson Theater from 10 A.M. until noon that Saturday where she will be accepting walk-up donations.

“If someone does want to come on and make their pledge live on air we can certainly arrange for that,” says Pratt, “if they give us permission to give them some on air recognition we’d love to do that. Because without their support we wouldn’t be operating here because it does cost so very much to keep the shelter doors open and the animals cared for.”

Pratt says it’s also not too late for any business or group or even an individual to arrange to appear live on the telethon and make their donation.
