Annie Krogan, 48, was the kind of person who enjoyed organic foods and coffee and who was loved by all who knew her.

“You’d see her at the coffee shop the odd time … I’d known her quite well for the past five years. She was a very lovely person, very good to her friends and just a real joy,” said Christy Schweiger. “It was a shame that she had to leave us.”

Krogan died in a house fire at 275 River St. E. on Oct. 22. She was found unconscious in her home by the Moose Jaw Fire Department shortly before 5 a.m. While she was transported to the Moose Jaw Union Hospital, attempts to revive here failed.

In her honour, a group of five friends are holding a fundraiser in her memory on Wednesday at Bobby’s Place. Schweiger said there will be a ribs and Caesar supper from 6 to 8 p.m. followed by three rounds of trivia starting at 8:30 p.m. All proceeds will go to the Moose Jaw Humane Society. Tickets are available at the door and are $15 each. The trivia has a $5 entrance fee and the event is open to the public.

“Because there was no public funeral announced, we wanted to do something for Annie that she would appreciate,” said Schweiger. “It was one of the places that she enjoyed going to. She liked playing trivia and one of the other great causes she believed in was animal rights.”
