Lies, cheating and genuflecting were performed in front of two sold out crowds.
The Moose Jaw Community Players held their third annual dinner theatre on Friday and Saturday night at the Cosmo Senior Citizens Centre with dinner catering by Charlotte’s. There were 280 seats per night and both nights were sold out.
The featured play was a three-act comedy farse, Lie, Cheat and Genuflect by Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore. The play’s running time was about three hours including intermissions.
“It’s a bit longer than normal, but everybody thought it went by fairly quickly,” said director Verna Alonzo Lantigua. “We’ve created quite a following of people, a lot of people that are repeaters and a bunch of new people every year.”
The play was about two grandsons who believe they should get money out of their grandfather’s will after he dies. However, they are unsure how to make that happen so they sneak into the house and pretend to be their cousin to get their inheritance.
The play had eight cast members and six crew members. The youngest member was 17 years old and the oldest was 64 years old.
“They all had a blast,” said Alonzo Lantigua. “(There were) quite a few brand new people that hadn’t really done it before. They were a little nervous. They did really well.”
