Jack Semple to cast the Mae Wilson In The Blue Light

Jack Semple is celebrating his return to the electric guitar with the release of his latest album In The Blue Light with a tour that includes a stop at Moose Jaw's Mae Wilson Theatre on Dec. 8.

His last album, released in 2006, was a tribute to Gordon Lightfoot and featured all acoustic songs.

“With the acoustic guitar, all that stuff is solo. With the electric guitar it’s with a full band so it’s a little more fun,” he said. “Whenever you come back to something you haven't been to in a while, it’s like a rediscovery, so it’s really a lot of fun.”

“It’s been about ten years since I put out a CD like this,” said Semple.

The new album was officially released on Sept. 15 and Moose Jaw is one of several stops on the CD release tour.

Semple will travel with his band, featuring himself on lead guitar, his son Keiran Semple on rhythm guitar, Dave Shabot on bass guitar and Martin Blonski on drums.

He said they will perform all 13 tracks from the new album as well as “a couple cover tunes that I normally do for the fans.”

Two of the album's tracks are instrumentals, called Spankin and Little Joe, but all of them, he said, are definitely contemporary blues.
