Two adult males have been charged following an apparent stabbing in Moose Jaw on Sunday.

Moose Jaw police announced Monday afternoon that Matthew Barry Hooey, 28, and Steven St. Pierre, 34, have both been charged with aggravated assault.

St. Pierre also faces charges of possession of a weapon, uttering threats, and several counts of breaching a court order.

Police responded to an emergency call at 7:14 p.m. on Sunday on the 800 block of Stadacona Street East, where a victim reportedly suffered serious injury after an apparent stabbing.

In addition to first responders from the Moose Jaw Police Service, members of the Police Forensic Identification Unit, K-9 Unit and the Criminal Investigations Unit took part in the investigation.

The victim, having sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was treated at Moose Jaw Union Hospital and later released.

Police stated Sunday afternoon that two adult males had been held in custody, that charges were pending and the investigation was ongoing.

Sgt. Cliff Froehlich told the Times-Herald on Monday that alcohol was a significant factor in the incident.
