The city will look at having Wakamow Valley Authority take over management of the campground for 2013.

City manager Garry McKay reported that during the in-camera portion of Monday’s executive committee meeting, executive voted for the city to begin discussions with Wakamow to operate the River Park Campground next year. The city has tendered out the campground area in the past.

“Our campground operator is retiring,” said McKay. “He had been here for years and years and years. So now that we need a new operator, we’re going to go have discussions with Wakamow to see if they’re interested in taking it over.”

He said the city has received $13,000 per year from the tendering of the campground. If Wakamow takes over management of the campground, the city won't receive that income any longer.
