For three Grade 6 students involved in painting a mural with their art club, the experience was fantastic.

“I’ve never done a mural so it was something different for me to experience,” said student Hailey Cleave. “I did enjoy it. So next year I hope we can do another one.”

“It was a fun opportunity for us to do,” added fellow student Marcetta Wells.

The Empire Community School art club, comprised of Grade 6, 7 and 8 students, painted a mural of the school with Christmas greetings as a Christmas wish to the community on Greeting Card Lane along Langdon Crescent. There were a total of 10 students involved in the art club who helped paint the mural. It was the club’s first time tackling that type of project and it took two weeks to complete.

“We wanted to represent Empire Community School because we do go out into the community,” said Cleave.

“We’re (sending) a message out to people,” added student Abby Busch.

There are four teachers involved with the art club — Loni Fox, Jayne Tisdale, Anita Rice and Char Heebner-Straker.
