After 38 years as an instructor and campus director at SIAST it was time for Peter Lapointe to retire.

“It was a great experience,” said Lapointe. “SIAST has been a great place to work … It’s been an exciting 38 years.”

Lapointe retired from the SIAST Palliser campus on Friday. He said his favourite memories from his time at SIAST were the interaction with the students, staff and his time coaching some of SIAST’s sports teams. He said he is still assisting with coaching the SIAST Palliser campus Panther basketball team ... and even younger players.

“I’m starting all over again by coaching with my granddaughters who are eight and six,” said Lapointe. “I’m really enjoying it.”

Apart from coaching, he said other plans for his retirement include spending more time with his hobbies of travelling and geneology. He said in the summer, he enjoys camping and trailering.

“I’ve pretty well got a schedule for the next couple of years,” said Lapointe.
