The first baby born in Five Hills Health Region in 2013 is in store for a whole bunch of goodies, courtesy of the Welcome Wagon, Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce, as well as over 30 local business, government and organization sponsors.

“There’s everything,” local Welcome Wagon representative Gaye McKay told the Times-Herald.

While the Welcome Wagon mandate sees the group providing gift baskets for new babies all year round, McKay said the basket for the first baby born each year is always a bit more stocked with various goods for both the infant child and their new family.

“We’ve been really busy over the last ten years,” Chamber of Commerce CEO Brian Martynook said on the amount of New Year’s babies The Friendly City has been able to welcome over the last decade.

He said a presentation is usually held on Jan. 2, for the mother and family, to present the gifts donated from the various businesses and organizations.

“The gifts are ready and being displayed at Union Hospital, and we’re looking forward into welcoming a new resident for Moose Jaw or the surrounding area.

Certificates, clothing, blankets and diapers are just some of the items provided by the City of Moose Jaw — with all of the goods on display in the Union Hospital gift shop.
