"Want to hear a song?" man dies

Lawrence McGillis is best remembered for sitting in front of city hall with his guitar and asking if anyone wanted to hear a song.

McGillis died at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital on Dec. 27 at age 66. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Moose Jaw Funeral Home.

“It’s sad,” said Caroline Dreger, the mayor’s assistant. “Everybody would remember him because he sat outside of city hall.”

This is so sad...I often just gave him two dollars to buy a drink during the heat of the summer...he was such a nice man. I'll miss seeing him this summer...
