For Moose Jaw’s Adam and Jaylyn Knudson, having the city's first baby of 2013 was quite a surprise.
“I wasn’t due until Jan. 22. So when I started having pains (Tuesday) I wasn’t thinking much of them, but a few hours later (there was) Bryce,” said Jaylyn, 29. Her husband is 31.
At 10:08 p.m. on New Year’s Day, Bryce Knudson was born at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital. He weighed seven pounds and 14 ounces and was 20.5 inches long. The Knutsons have another son, Brody, who turned two years old a week before Christmas.
“We’re going to have a busy month,” said Jaylyn.
She said she was in the hospital for six or seven hours on New Year’s Day before Bryce was born. She said he was born healthy and there were no complications.
“When I came in they had mentioned that there hadn’t been (a new year’s baby) yet, but I thought maybe someone else would come in and go quicker that was maybe closer to the due date,” said Jaylyn. “So it caught me off guard.”
