There have been a high number of obituaries at this time of year.

From Dec. 24 to Jan. 3, the Times-Herald printed 21 obituary notices, eight of which appeared in Thursday’s edition.

“It is a phenomenon,” said Della Ferguson, continued care co-ordinator for W.J. Jones and Son Funeral Home. “(It could be) an outbreak of influenza, but there’s just so many different factors going on in people’s lives and I think it’s impossible to generalize.”

For more information, see an upcoming edition of the Times-Herald.
