Wakamow Valley is doing everything it can the first day of March to make the community beat the winter blahs with some great blues.

The third annual, Shake Off the Winter Blues Night, will be held March 1, at the Sportsman Centre, offering a night of food and live entertainment.

“This year again, proceeds are going towards the wheel chair accessible playground that we’re hoping to build,” Wakamow Valley administration manger Margaret Moran said. “We just have about $40,000 more to go to reach our goal and we’re very confident we’re going to reach it and be building this spring.

Shake Off the Winter Blues is going to start at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails, following a dinner before two live blues performances.

Tickets are presently available for the event for $60, which includes your meal and entertainment.

“This year we’re presenting Albert Castiglia, a blues guitarist who hails from Miami, Florida,” Moran said on one oft the acts planned for the night. “We’re going to round up the night with the Bill Durst Band ... The Blues Underground Network named him as having the best live Canadian blues album.”
