Cocktails, dinner and a tribute to Elvis Presley are on the menu for a Moose Jaw Humane Society fundraiser.
The humane society will hold its second annual fundraiser Kisses for Kritters featuring Saskatchewan-born Elvis Presley tribute artist Rory Allen on Feb. 8 at the Heritage Inn.
“You’d think he was Elvis in the flesh there. He’s just a terrific tribute artist,” said Karla Pratt, fundraising and promotions co-ordinator with the local shelter. “At the same time you’re going to be supporting the shelter and it’ll really mean a lot to us … We don’t often get a lot of donations coming after Christmas. So having a fundraiser like this where you can get some friends together does help the shelter out tremendously.”
She said cocktails will start at 6 p.m. and dinner will be at 7 p.m. Dinner will include roast beef and wine. The entertainment portion of the evening will start at 8:30 p.m. New this year is a silent auction and there will also be a 50/50 draw.
“We’ve got some interesting items already donated for that and of course we’re always looking for more too,” said Pratt. “(Last year) there were a few individuals (who) dressed up in 1950s and 1960s theme costumes. So people are more than welcome to do that if they want to get into the swing of things too.”
