Moose Jaw’s Sears store is affected by the nation-wide layoff.

Sears Canada issued 700 layoff notices this week. Sears spokeswoman Alicia Richler said all stores were affected and the Moose Jaw location lost two people at the management level. She added Sears doesn’t have “any immediate plans to layoff anybody else right now.”

“Hopefully it doesn’t affect the daily operations of the (Moose Jaw) store. That’s the whole goal is that you want to be running as successful a store as we can,” said Richler. “We want, obviously, our customers to know that we’re as committed as ever to giving them top-quality customer service and these changes won’t make a difference to them.”
