Ray Taylor never expected to receive a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
“I’m very humbled. I guess that says it in a nutshell,” said Taylor. “It’s a humbling experience.”
Taylor was one of 30 recipients from the Palliser riding to receive a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal on Saturday night at the Heritage Inn.
Taylor said he has been involved in community projects and groups such as the Hillcrest Sports Centre, the curling rink project, the multiplex project and the police commissioners board. He also supported and installed water filtration systems during the crisis in Haiti. His work has allowed thousands of people to have clean water.
“We were very happy to do that and it changed lives for a long time having clean water,” said Taylor. “All those people doing volunteer work - they deserve the same as me."
